Tuesday 40K Quiz - 11/2/2010

The Tuesday 40K Quiz is a primer to get players to think about the rules. Every week there will be five questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The answers (with page reference when appropriate) will be posted the following Tuesday.

Question #1

Can a unit that fired at an enemy unit in the shooting phase assault a different enemy in the assault phase?

Question #2

If only one member of a unit that is carrying a heavy weapon moves, can the heavy weapon still shoot?

Question #3

When firing through a friendly unit at an enemy unit, will the enemy unit get a cover save? 

Question #4

What benefit does the Fleet special special rule provide to a unit?

Question #5

Can a sniper rifle do any damage to a vehicle with an armor value of 12? If so, how can this be done?

Answers to Last Week's Questions

Question #1

Can a unit that is falling back declare an assault?

A: No, units that are falling back cannot declare an assault. (Page 33)

Question #2

Can an Independent Character leave a unit during the Shooting Phase if the character or the unit decides to run?

A: No, an Independent Character can only join or leave a unit in the Movement phase. (Page 48)

Question #3

When a unit  has the opportunity to shoot at two different targets (such as a Land Raider), and the unit shoots and destroys the first target, can the player choose a different target to shoot at?

A: No. The first step in the shooting sequence is to check line of sight and pick a target. You cannot pick a different target after the first weapon of the unit has already fired since firing is step 3. (Page 15)

Question #4

If a non-fast vehicle moved on a road, how far can it move and still fire a primary (above S4) weapon?

A: It can only move 6" (Combat Speed) and shoot the primary weapon. Roads will allow vehicles to move an extra 6" ONLY if the vehicle is moving at Cruising Speed (6" - 12"), in which case it cannot shoot it's primary (or any other) weapon. (Page 57)

Question #5

What is the Red Thirst special rule? 

A: After forces have been deployed, but before any scout moves and the first turn, a D6 is rolled for each unit that has this rule. On a roll of 1, the unit has Furious Charge and Fearless, but loses the And They Shall Know No Fear special rule for the duration of the game. (Page 23, C:BA)
